My Professional Review of New Wash and Why You Need to Check It Out.

Updated: May 19, 2022

As a Hairstylist this is my professional review of New Wash and why you need to check it out!

You might have heard me talk about a new brand of hair products by a company called Hair Story. Maybe you watched my video about their cleanser called New Wash. If not, no worries, I'm going to tell you all about why New Wash is my new favorite product and why it's going to be yours too.

If you have been a client of mine before you know how much research I do before I bring in a new brand. I make sure it's top notch ingredients, concentrated to last you a long time (not cut with water) free from synthetics, chemicals, irritants ect. (the list is to long to mention) and equally as important: it has to deliver on the results it promises and be easy to use. Then I personally use the product for a while, before recommending it to you.

New Wash has gone through my rigorous check list and I Love It! If you have any hair issues at all New Wash can help! In this review I am going to share with you: What it is, who can benefit from it, and how to use it.

What is it?

New Wash is a professional brand hair cleanser that replaces your shampoo and conditioner. It is an all in one product. It uses botanical ingredients and natural oils to attach to the dirt, oil and styling products in your hair and then rinse them away.

New Wash is detergent free, Sulfate Free and Silicone Free! (Read more information on why I do not recommend Silicones in hair products on my blog "Why your hair is so Frizzy)

While it might seem similar to other brand's co-washes or cleansing conditioners, it is different because the ingredients actually cleanse your hair with out detergents. Because it doesn't have silicones, it wont clog your hair follicles and will let your scalp "breath" unlike other all in one brands on the market.

Also! I am a big fan of Olaplex treatments and recommended them to many clients. This product works well with Olaplex. And! because it is sulfate free it wont strip your color and will keep it looking vibrant and shiny.

Who is it for?

Everyone! No I really mean it. If you have fine hair you might think this sounds too conditioning and will weigh you down. If your have curly hair you might think just one product is not going to be hydrating enough.

I totally understand. I have worked with lots of fine hair clients and know their needs well, on the other side I have dry curly hair and am used to using lots of deep conditioners to keep it hydrated.

Like I said, I always test out new products on myself first to see if it lives up to its claims. I also had my mom who has fine, straight, flat hair and my husband who has short medium wavy hair test it out, We all love it! The picture below was taken a couple years ago before the pandemic, before we tried new wash but, you can see the difference in my mom and my hair textures:

New Wash really can help you no matter your hair texture or concerns. It comes in 3 different formulas: Deep, Original, and Rich. Ill explain a little about which to use according to your hair and scalp needs. Click on the title or picture of each one to use my link for 20% off as a new client!

This is for people with oily scalps or very fine hair that are worried about their hair being weighed down. Deep gives you a Deep Cleanse. You will feel clean but not with a squeaky tight scalp. The natural oils will take away the dirt and extra oil your scalp makes but, wont strip all your oil away. When regular shampoos with detergent strip all your oil away your scalp will start to over produce oil to overcompensate (which is why you feel oily all the time) New Wash Deep will leave you with a perfect balance.

This is for people who don't have issues with dryness nor too much oil. It is the perfect balance for happy healthy hair.

This is what I use! Rich is good for people with dry scalps, very dry hair, course or curly hair. Rich has more moisturizing ingredients to help hydrate curls and soothe dry scalps and dry frizzy hair.

If you are still not sure which one you should try or think that you may be in between. check out the online quiz! This will tell you which one to use. Click on here to take the quiz.

How Do You Use New Wash?

When I first used new was I was a little suspicious! It was definitely a new experience, so don't be afraid of trying something different. It goes on like a thick conditioner. Squeeze some New Wash in your hands and rub your hands together to spread it out. Now distribute it through your hair and work it in your strands.

Next make sure you have some on your scalp and give your self a good scalp massage. Because there's no detergents this product needs a little extra manual action from your hands to loosen up all the dirt oil and product buildup that's on your hair and scalp.

Once you have thoroughly worked it through your hair and scalp make sure to really rinse clean. Combing out your hair with a wide tooth brush before rinsing can help detangle. Also the Scalp Brush is awesome to use! It helps to give an extra scrubbing action on your scalp, but I've also found that it helps really well if you have a tension headache! It's like a nice little acupressure massage for your scalp! Click here to check out the scalp brush.

Overall I have found that my hair has been looking and feeling clean healthy and shiny! My curls look hydrated and and stay smooth. What I really love is that it saves time!! If you are like me life is busy and there's no time for extra shower time luxuries. Since New Wash cleanses and conditions all at once I've cut the time I spend on my hair in half!

I have really been loving this hair cleanser and think you will too! Your hair will look and feel great, you'll save time in the shower and you can buy it online. I've partnered with Hair Story to offer you 20% off your first order and they have a 30 day return policy if you are not satisfied. I definitely recommend giving it a try!
